MESSENGER INQUIRER - NOV 1959 - Mrs. Dell Phenia Payne, 84, widow of Miley Payne, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louise Heep, 104 E. 22nd St. at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, following a lingering illness.
A lifelong resident of Daviess County, she was born in February 1875 and has lived in Owensboro for the last 20 years.
She was a member of the Blessed Mother Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Heep, Mrs. Albert Head and Mrs. Forrest Wathen of Owensboro, Mrs. Emmett Mercer of Philpot and Mrs. Phenia Rhinerson of Knottsville; six sons, Joseph Ray Payne of Owensboro, Francis, Stanley, Merlin and Ernest Payne of Knottsville, Hubert Payne, Roseville, Mich., and Lewis Payne, Houston, Tex; 63 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hallie Brown, Colorado Springs, Colo., and two brothers, Joseph N. Clark of Stanley and Willard Clark, Flint, Mich.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Blessed Mother Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. William B. Jarboe pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Austin Wathen, Gene, John, Joe, and Junior Payne, and Robert Rhinerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Conkwright, Paul Roberts, Kenny Coomes, Randell All, Gilbert Payne, and Bobby Barlette.
The body is at the Owensboro Funeral Home where payers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
