The daughter of Duke Louis I of Savoy and Anne de Lusignan, Princess of Cyprus, in March 1451, at only 9 years old, she became the second wife of King Louis XI. Their first child was born in 1458, six others followed but only three of them survived their childhood, Jeanne de Valois was, for a few months, Queen of France before her marriage with Louis XII. was annulled. She was later canonized. Anne married Pierre II. de Bourbon and acted as regent for her brother Charles VIII. until 1491. Charlotte outlived her husband only by a few months and died in Amboise.
