BEATRICE BURKS, a native of Rosedale, Louisiana and a resident of Morganza, Louisiana was born on August 16, 1937 to the union of the late Henry Montgomery and Louise Collins Johnson. She departed this life on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Beatrice was baptized at Zion Travelers Baptist Church by the late Reverend Walter Paige. She was a faithful and dedicated member. She loved to sing and was a member in the choir where she served faithfully until her death.

She was united in holy matrinomy to the late Allen Burks, Jr. on July 5, 1973. She was a very pleasant person who enjoyed reading and loved sports.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Elaine Burks Francis and Leola Burks Butler of Morganza; one son, Allen Burks III {Karen} of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister, Julia Elmore Dunbar of Port Allen, LA; five grandchildren, Christopher Francis, Rachel Hoffman, Lawanda Hoffman, Joshua Burks, and Jaycee Burks; seven great grandchildren, five sisters-in-law; Elaine Burks, Alice Burks, and Irma Burks; two brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Burks {Barbara}, and Alfred Burks {Clara}; a devoted friend, Ernest Derozan, six godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Burks, Jr.; her parents Henry Montgomery and Louise Collins Johnson, a brother, Freddie Thomas and a sister Lula Mae Thomas Johnson.
