Australian Soprano best known for her Wagnerian interpretations. Her parents were William & Elizabeth Smith Lawrence. Marjorie made her debut at the 1935 Metropolitan Opera, she later taught school at the Illinois University and then privately in Hot Springs AR. In 1941 she married Dr. Thomas King in NYC. After she was strickened with polio,her singing schedule was drastically limited. In 1955 she wrote her autobiography "Interrupted Melody" which soon was turned into a movie.
