Mrs. Emma Grant
Mrs. Fred (Emma) Grant, 86, formerly of 308 Alice Ave., Oglesby, died at 5 p.m., Saturday, September 4, in Heritage Nursing Home in Peru, where she was a patient for 14 months.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Elias Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica, the Rev. T. Wayne Biehl of the Tonica Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Tonica.
Mrs. Grant was born in Putnam County, November 12, 1895, to John and Katie Linker Schafer. She graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1913 and lived on a farm near Cedar Point, moving to Oglesby in 1946. She married Fred M. Grant who died June 13, 1974. She was a member of the Tonica United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She was a charter member of the Cedar Point Home Extension, of which she had been a member since 1919. she was a member of the Oglesby Federated Woman's Club and a 4-H club leader for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alford (Helen) Johnson of Tonica; one son, Harold Grant of Granville; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Romeyn (Bertha) Ford of Tonica.
Memorials were requested to the Cedar Point Home Extension or the Oglesby Federated Woman's Club.
