Mickey became a homemaker and mother to nine children and will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Her spontaneity, sense of humor, and enthusiasm were part of the charm that made her such a special person and her vivacious personality touched the lives and hearts of everyone she knew. Her grandchildren were an integral part of her life and endowed her with their love, laughter, and treasured moments in their lives. Her flower gardens were an expression of her love for beauty and the fragrance of freshly cut flowers were a constant presence in her home. She loved to play cards with family and friends and participated in many euchere tournaments throughout the community. Her home, especially her front porch, was the gathering place for family and friends and everyone knew that a warm welcome would be waiting for them. Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association or to the family. Survivors include her children Sharon (Mark) Stoneburner, Bettendorf; Steven (Lucija) Nickels, Davenport; Barbara (Bob) Medley, Smithville, Tenn.; Deborah Nickels and Matthew (Mindy) Nickels, both of Davenport; Linda (Mitchell) Maes, Bettendorf; Mark (Jane) Nickels and Laurie (Edward) Williams, both of Davenport; 20 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene (Stanley) Schutter, Bettendorf; Beatrice (Hank) Eads, Fort Meyers, Fla.; and Patricia Sturms, Davenport; and her son-in-law, Dennis (Kim) Ford, Port Byron, Ill.
