DEATH OF H. VANSCOY
Ex-postmaster Henry Van Scoy, of Kingston, died at his home on Wyoming avenue at 8 o'clock Saturday evening after one week's illness of stomach trouble.
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel van Scoy, early settlers of Wyoming Valley, and was born 67 years ago in the Borough of Wyoming. He resided in Kingston since the years 1869 and was one of the most respected and influential citizens of that borough. He was also known much throughout the county. He was county commissioner on the Democratic ticket in the '80s and served two terms during Cleveland's administration as postmaster of Kingston.
Deceased was a member of Kingston Lodge 395, F. & A. M. and is survived by his wife, who is the daughter of Isaac Shoemaker, of Wyoming; his son, Isaac S. of the firm of Turner & Van Scoy, and a sister, Mrs. L. T. Patten, of this city.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from his late home in Kingston. Interment will be made in the family plot at Forty Fort.
