Mildred Ruth Simpson died Wednesday, October 25, 1995, in a Boise nursing home.
Memorial services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Mountain View Funeral Home, Boise.
Ruth was born October 27, 1933, at Boise, to Daniel P Fry and Myrtle Bybee Fry of Horseshoe Bend, ID. She attended school in Horseshoe Bend until the family moved to Boise in 1945, where she attended Boise schools. Her first job was as a telephone operator for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Co. In 1953 she married Wayne Randall Simpson in Boise. They moved to Moses Lake, WA where their two children, Della Ruth and Daniel Wayne were born. They were divorced in the late 1950s. Ruth subsequently married Don Walters, who passed away a short time later.
Ruth was loved by everyone for her bubbly personality and great sense of humor. Her great talent and gift to this world was her genius for music. She was a natural on the piano, playing anything from classical to boogie and pop standards. She spent some time in California playing in dinner clubs and played in several establishments in the Boise area. As she prepared to go on tour, she began to experience the early symptoms of multiple sclerosis and was eventually forced to give up a promising career in music. She lived with her parents, from the early 1960s, who cared for her for many years. She became a resident of the Boise Samaritan Village in 1975 where she lived until her death.
Ruth's family and friends will always remember and love her for the fun and loving person she was, even throughout her long illness. Her friends at Boise Samaritan Village will attest to her positive, upbeat attitude and that she never complained about her lot in life. She loved to play the piano for the residents and visitors at the nursing home. In spite of the difficulty she had playing the songs she loved, all of her unique creativity was there in the chords and runs, even up to the last weekend of her life.
We all love you Ruth and will see you again. So long, until we meet again.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; by two husbands; Wayne R Simpson and Donald Walters; and a daughter, Della R Fields.
