Called "Dennis" by his family, my Father was nick-named "Chick" by the family's nanny, Nanny Pearl. Most people knew my Dad as Chick Chaney.
Clara Georgie Bowden & Thomas Cleveland Chaney were married on June 13, 1920 by the Official, H. A. Shaw, N. P. in Irwin County, Georgia.

"Chick" was a member of the Air Force. He was a radar pioneer and code man. He served in Japan & Korea. Chick then worked for the phone company up until his passing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and card playing. My Dad was outgoing & friendly, he never met a stranger.
After the Air Force, my father worked for ITT, Ma Bell. Chick worked for the phone company more than 30 years, up until the day of his passing.
Dennis was married first to Virginia Clara Downer, who is buried at Rockville.
At the time of his passing he was married to Darline Kathline Chaney, buried at FFSS.
Some of my favorite memories of my father are when he would ask me to play a duet with him on piano. Dad was self taught on piano and guitar and played both quite well.
My father loved to go fishing. I treasure the Plano tackle box he bought me. Weekends would often find my father deep-sea fishing. My father also went hunting twice a year. These activities were not sport to my father. Everything caught was for food.
My Dad loved to show me off, being proud of his daughter. We were cribbage partners when I was the age of 5. We would play against his friends and my Dad loved it when we would win. My Dad would laugh and claim it was all my doing.
My Dad liked dogs, but he was not a super softy like me. Until Doodles. My Dad found a kiddy recliner in brown leather that looked just like his own, and he bought it for Doodles. After dinner my Dad would say.. Come on Doodles do you want to go watch tv with Daddy? And then Doodles would run to his chair, my Dad would go to his and they would sit side by side watching tv.
As an Adult, I would visit my Dad often. Once after dinner he said to my then boyfriend, "Would you like something to drink, a beer"? And then my Dad said to me, "Sally how about you, Rootbeer or Koolaide"? I will always be Daddy's Little Girl.
