|Death: ||Nov. 27, 2012|
Porshe Foster, age 15, was gunned down on November 27, 2012 as she stood talking with friends in the early evening hours just feet from her home. Her murder is a sobering reminder of the random/gang violence in Chicago, Illinois.
Porshe was an honor student and lived with her family in Marquette Heights. She hoped to become an architect, and was also an up and coming athlete; friends say that they will remember a fun and caring young woman whose loss is a tragedy.
Porshe's mother Bonita continues to fight for justice for her daughter; as of this date, there have been no arrests made in Porshe's death, and what small amount of publicity the case originally received has slowed to a halt. Shortly after Porshe's murder, a young man stepped forward to state that he believed the bullets fired at Porshe had been meant for him, making the young woman a casualty of mistaken identity; Porshe had no gang affiliations whatsoever, and sadly enough is considered to have simply been in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Ace Tech Charter High School, where Porshe was a sophmore, organized fundraisers to help defray their friend's funeral costs.
