Gazette Telegraph, Colorado Springs, COThursday, Oct. 16, 1975 page 4A:2Mrs. Maude HoxseyMass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday from St Michael's Catholic Church, Canon City, for Mrs. Maude Hoxsey, retired beauty shop owner and beauty operator, who died Sunday at St. Thomas More Care Center at the age of 82. Benedictine Fathers officiated at services followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. Mrs. Hoxsey was born Sept. 22, 1893, in Hartford, Kan., and had lived in Colorado most of her life. She moved to Canon City in 1923 from Colorado Springs to operate the Powder Puff Beauty Salon. She left the city during World War II, returned in 1946 and left again to move to Denver where she resided for 25 years. She returned to Canon City in 1961 following her retirement in the 1950's. Mrs. Hoxsey was married to Robert Hoxsey who died in 1969. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She is survived by a daughter, faerity Layne, of Los Angeles, Calif.
