Flowers left for John Garner
Garner did support the New Deal in his first term as V. P., but his great act was in thwarting (with Burton Wheeler) FDR's idiotic court packing plan. It helped cost him the 1940 chance he sought. Born on November 22nd, in 1963 he got a call wishing him "Happy Birthday" from President Kennedy, who shortly afterwards was assassinated in Dallas (Garner was back in his home at Uvalde, Texas). Garner survived our youngest elected President by four years.
