Flowers left for Francis Gibbons
A day in the world! I often ponder what goes on beyond the shores of our own homeland,Maybe one day I might explore. Still I know what a day in the world holds in store. So come with me on a wild ride… well each of our lives! In London a wife holds her husband's hand,Tears stream upon her wedding band, Softly she kisses him and says goodbye. Yet In America at that same time,A man has woken up restless and goes outside,Unaware he is about to have a bad day,His tires will be flat and his house burgled and yes work will be stressful. While his neighbour is about to become a mother at a local hospital,Joyous tears she cries as her new-born child makes this day forever bright,Then to Alaska where twins begin their first day of school.Hop to Canada where a man steps outside the church holding his beautiful bride at his side. While an old lady gets the news she soon won't be alive. In Australia a man walks through his door, Happy to be home from a long day's work,He hands his wife roses and they lovingly embrace,Who would know at another house 10 minutes away a picture flame flies through the air, The lady who threw it picks up her young son and storms out the door, Leaving her wedding band chucked upon the floor. Meanwhile in Japan a man gets the news he is going to be a dad! While in Singapore a singer creates what will soon be a hit number 1 music draw,Jump to Ireland where tears stream from children's face as their Grandfather is laid to rest.Yet then to Northern Ireland where a lady has just unpacked her last moving box.She toasts to a good day!In Malta a couple buy a puppy for their children to celebrate their recent success. While in Germany a man has his house repossessed. At a China music scene people grove the atmosphere electric as they dance and move, Then we step to Hawaii where a woman has been told she is a great grandmother once more. Scoot to Russia where they are holding a festival for those from the war,All around the world, every single second,Fireworks explode and people text on phones,They go through Shopping centres; hospital visits day dreaming and work trips.Meetings friends you will keep for life, changing ideas after a long time,Deaths and births, Marriages and break ups.All happening at the same time as this moment all around the world.Animals also have their share,Zoos continue to amaze,While herds of cows, sheep and deer wander the earth. Guinea pigs are brought to new homes,While fish are trapped in nets and birds fly into homes,Life explodes everywhere, every moment, every place, No time to stop in this fast pace,What affects one, rarely affects all, Airplanes cry above us, boats on our waterfront. LIFEIt's the ever immortal and powerful drive,A drive that extends above the clouds,Into a world we have yet to realise,Where soul's dwell,They watch the mad rush that goes on around the world.Laughing, crying, gasping but loving aloud,The unexpected, sometimes cruel and beautiful life. They cheer us on as we continue the small daily fights. Those fights that make up life,It's the only backdrop we have known. As for those who question life's dice throws,The Why's cannot be explained or answered here,There is no point trying to rack your brains,Just float along and enjoy the days.Poem 2:Each life is like a book,We each have our own pages to fill in, Some of us are stopped before the first chapter can begin, Some have to publish a sequel or else the book will be too big!Our knowledge, fears, memories are filling the pages,Our experiences, feelings, hobbies and amazing moments,Also take up page by page of our book. Some books are lovingly written with a steady hand,Others are harder to understand,Each book contains messages unique to its writer,Every book is a treasure. Now think of your family here and to come as the library,Leave your book inside that library next to your ancestor's ones,So each generation can come and learn lessons from past ones. We can only hope that our chapters are happy and the ending as sweet as the beginning, Bless you dear friends and may your book be long and the best always yet to come! Both poems by Ryan K Selwyn: Age 17 on 4/10/2012. Love to angels who keep this world strong xx
