Flowers left for Virgil Ross
Virgil D. Ross, 62, of 630 Freeport Road, Freeport, died yesterday, Nov. 20, 1989, at 4:45 p.m. of respiratory failure in Butler Veterans Administration Hospital.He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Tarentum.Mr. Ross was a 1945 graduate of Har-Brack Union High School and served with the Navy for 24 years, retiring in 1969 as a Master Chief Communications Technician (CTCM).Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ellen Summers Ross; two sons, John Edward Ross of Channahon, Illinois, and Charles William Ross of Freeport; a daughter, Patricia Ann Bell of Sarver; six grandchildren; three brothers, Marlin Ross of Tarentum, Richard C. Ross and Wendell L. Ross both of Sarver; and six sisters, Mrs Kenneth (Dorothea) Delp of Natrona Heights, Mrs. Ernest P. (Val Jean) Campbell, Mrs. Daniel (Audrey) Ankrom, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) McBee and Mrs. Harry (Mardell) Humes, all of Sarver, and Mrs. Arthur (Twila) DeMao of Murfreesboro, N.C.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Alvin and Ella Carney Ross; one sister and two brothers.Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Richard L. Redmond Funeral Home, Sixth and High Streets, Freeport, where services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Rev. Lawrence Lyman, pastor of Freeport United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Harrison.
