Flowers left for Charles Benson
THIS MAN IS PROBABLY NOT BURIED AT BODIE SEE Weekly Reno Gazette, 10/11/1883: Three Miners Blown to Atoms. From the Bodie Free Press of the 4th inst. it is learned that three men while charging a hole in the face of the great (sic) Sierra tunnel AT TIOGA, MONO COUNTY, Cal., last Tuesday, were blown to atoms by the accidental discharge of giant powder. The names of the unfortunate men, who could only be recognized by their size and clothing were Albert Snibley, a native of Califonria, aged 25; Charles A. Benson, aged 32, and George Watson, a native of New Brunswick, aged 30.NOTHING IN THIS STATES BENSON OR WATSON were taken to BODIE for burial. See also Sacramento Daily Union, 10/8/1883. From review of other information, the Great Sierra Tunnel was located 8 miles SOUTH OF LUNDY in Mono County.
