Flowers left for Norman Rockwell
Mr. Rockwell, in my vast collection of old Boy Scout Handbooks I have a book that my grandparents bought me;its called Norman Rockwell's World of Scouting. Before I became a scout, I wanted to join so bad I couldnt stand it. It didnt help matters any when I looked at this book. The pictures you painted looked as if they werent pictures at all, but photos. You captured in every painting, the true experience of scouting. Whats really hard to immagine is that you were never a scout. You were never a scout and yet you knew exactly what it was like to be one. Sure, you probably interviewed many scouts and scouters, but, your paintings were a mirror image for many scouts who saw them. You had to have a natural scense of what it was like to be one. This book inspired me to reach for Eagle. At my Eagle ceremony, I was given as a gift, the painting you made of the mother pinning the Eagle badge on a new Eagle Scout. I will always treasure this painting and the book for as long as I live. Thank You Mr. Rockwell!!!
