THE DEATH OF REBECCA ELLEN LOWERY
Mrs. Rebecca Ellen Lowery died at her home four miles west of Clark’s’s Hill, at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon of a complication of diseases. She had been ill three weeks. The deceased was born November 17, 1850, at Monroe, a daughter of Alexander and Margaret Mann, and was united in marriage at Monroe August 3, 1874, to Nelson Lowery. They lived at Monroe for twelve years after their marriage and then moved to the place where Mrs. Lowery died. To the union ten children were born, six girls and one boy still surviving. There are twenty-one surviving grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral was conducted from the Monroe Church, of which the deceased was a member, yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Feigner officiating. The deceased was held in the highest regard by all who knew her. Her death will be a distinct shock to the community which she lives.
