Walter E. Racer Dies in York, PA.Walter E. Racer, son of Elder John Abram Racer, of Luray, and the late Emma Musselman Racer died in aYork, PA hospital on Saturday, November 10th, of a heart ailment. Mr. Racer's funeral will be conductedtoday (Thursday) at two o'clock from Beahm's Chapel with Elder Joe Fost er officiating, assisted by Rev.Donald Royer and Elder E. D. Cave. The deceased was born in Licking Count y, Ohio on December 30, 1878and at the age of six weeks his parents went to Missouri, traveling by covered wagon. The family remained there until the death of his mother. At the age of twelve, he, his younger brother and father came to Virginia.His first wife was Miss Annie Comer, who is deceased. They are survived by the following children: Mrs.John (Catherine) Alexander, Wyer's Cave, VA, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Rhodes, Charles Racer and Mrs.Donald (Anna) Miller, all of York, PA, and Paul Racer, of Wrightsville, P A. One son, Ralph, is deceased.He later married Mrs. Annie Edwards, who preceded him in death eleven years ago. His third wife, Mrs.Mary Shenberger, of York, PA, whom he married in 1936, survives him, in addition to his aged father and two half-sisters: Mrs. W. E. Yates, of Luray, and Mrs. W. D. Jenkins, of York, PA. One brother, J. Seymour Racer, is deceased. Serving as pall bearers at the funeral will be: Frank Griffith, John Racer, Tom Racer, Carroll Racer, Joe Sam Heiston and Ashby Lillard.Page News & Courier, November 15, 1945
