Flowers left for Jack Johnson
I have been so moved by all of the kind wonderful things being said about you and your life, from all these people I don't know. What is even better is knowing that you are my maternal great great uncle. Only a few people now know that your sister Janie had children, and that is the reason I am here. I hope you are proud of me for keeping your legacy alive and being your advocate. Ken Burns made all of this possible, and meeting him, Senator McCain, and Congressman King was amazing in April 2009. I am so proud of you, and how you lived your life. Aunt Blanche kept us all informed about you, and my mother, granddaughter of Mama Janie did too. Next is to get you the pardon you deserve, we are all hoping that it will get signed by the first black president, since you were the first black heavyweight champion. It is a blessing to know that out of all the families on the earth God gave you to us! You are truly inspiring to me. Love your great great niece, Linda E Haywood
