|To the late Wilson Lumpkin. Before the city became Atlanta it was called Marthasville, named for daughter Martha. Note: Martha Lumpkin is buried in Historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, along with Maynard Jackson, Jr.,the first Black mayor of a major southern city, Bobby Jones, the famous golfer, Maragret Mitchell, author of the novel, "Gone with the Wind", and Selena Sloan Butler, founder of the first Black PTA and now a co-founder of the National PTA just to name a few.|
