Flowers left for Henry Davis
Published in the Greenville News, Thursday 11 July 1935, pg 7LAURENS —10 July—Henry R. Davis, 52, died this afternoon at 4:30 pm at his home in the Trinity ridge section, five miles west of this city. He had been ill of fever for about two weeks. Mr. Davis was a progressive farmer.Funeral services will be held from Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 5:00 pm conducted by the pastor, Dr. Alva B. Langston, of Madden; the Rev J. Wash Watts, of New Orleans, who is at home on a visit, and the Rev. W.A. Baldwin. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Active pallbearers will be: W.L. Davis, Marvin Davis, Gordon Ferguson, Wilton Traynham, Lafayette Davis, George Ridgeway.Honorary pallbearers will be A.H. Moore, Herman Gibbs, Elbert Lothridge, R.M. Cain, McCuen Thomason, Glenn McCall, Carl Harris, Albert Brown, Oscar Bolt, J. Scott George, Preston Thompson, S. R. Cain, W.M. Cain and John D.W. Watts.Mr. Davis was a native of the Princeton section, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark [Luster] Davis [Mary Jane Chandler]. He had lived in the Trinity Ridge area for 20 years or more. He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eula Bagwell Davis, and the following children; J.L. and Jarvis Davis, Mrs. Mary Gibbs, Mrs. Alma Brown, Grover, Raymond, Henry Louie, Lawrence and Robert Davis; one sister, Mrs. M.L. Traynham; one brother, R.L. Davis, and a half sister, Mrs. J.D. Ferguson.
