Catherine Bowles, age 90, of Provo, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006. She was the second of three daughters born June 16, 1915 to William Alvin and Catherine Bailey Bowles in Nephi, Utah, where she spent her childhood.

Catherine was a person of many accomplishments. Her church services included an LDS Mission to the Eastern States Mission. She was a member of the General Sunday School Board, and a Provo Temple Ordinance Worker. She was an educator who taught Elementary School in Nephi and Provo, and served as Librarian at Maeser School. She was a member of the BYU faculty, teaching Children's Literature in the Department of Education. She spent a year in Washington D.C. representing the State of Utah by appointment of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and quilter. Her beautiful quilts adorn the beds of many relatives and friends.

She is survived by two sisters, Virginia B. Keeler of Provo, Geraldine B. Barker of Bountiful, and nieces and nephews, Kathleen Murphy, Mary Anne Jolley, Marie Blanchard, Claudia Pickering, Brent Keeler, Stephen Barker, Jerry Barker, Karen Ann Jacobsen, and Kevin Barker. She will be greatly missed by us all, because she was an integral part of all our families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a niece, Janice Butler.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., in the Provo 13th Ward LDS Chapel, 965 North Locust Lane, Provo. Friends may call at the ward chapel on Saturday, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. Graveside services will be held at the Nephi City Cemetery, 400 East 500 North, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].
