Evelyn Louise Arnold, age 85, of Ottawa , Kansas , died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa , Kansas . She was born on Wednesday, March 31, 1926, in Belleville , Kansas . She was the daughter of Rollie C. and Eunice ( Arnold ) Canfield.

She was a resident of Ottawa the past twelve years, moving from St. Marys , Kansas . She had also lived in Beloit , Kansas for many years. In the early 1960's, Evelyn was cook, owner, and operator of Eve's Diner in Courtland , Kansas . For thirty-five years, she cooked at Banner Restaurant in Beloit , Kansas , retiring in the early 1980's. She was a member of North Baptist Church in Ottawa . On February 9, 1947, Evelyn was united in marriage with William Arnold in Courtland , Kansas . He preceded her in death August 24, 1996.

She is preceded in death by her: Husband-William Arnold; Parents-Rollie C. and Eunice Canfield; Infant Daughter-Carol Wells; Daughter-Jannie Shelton; Sister-Ladonna Canfield and Brother-Andy Canfield.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.

IN STATE: Mrs. Arnold will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where family will meet with friends from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday to the service hour.

CEMETERY: Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit , Kansas .

MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa , Kansas 66067.
