Died at the age of 23 in the Eastland Disaster. Born on Arranmore Island, was working as a sailor aboard the steamer Petoskey in order to send financial support to his parents who remained in Ireland. When he witnessed the Eastland capsizing, he jumped into the Chicago River to rescue a woman. He died as a result.
