Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.

Hamer's partner in the Barrow Gang hunt, Texas Ranger Manny Gault is buried in the same cemetery. I grew up a block away.

I, too, am a man from the west, travelling to the east, to search for that which was lost. I wish you well in your journey, brother. May your soul be at rest in the contentment of a life well lived and a job well done.

You were a big shot. Killing Bonnie & Clyde without a trial. I know what they did was very bad, but you wanted it all for yourself, & killing someone is a SIN, but karma comes to those who sin. Just like Clyde killed people, his brother died...& you killed people, including B & C, & sad to say, your son died in WW2. That's karma, because you & Clyde took lives.

Brother Hamer thank you for your law enforcement expertise. They shook in their boots when they learned you were on the trail. Ask Bonnie and Clyde.

The character of the Texas Ranger is now well known to both friend and foe. As a mounted soldier he has had no counterpart in any age or country. Neither Cavalries nor Cossack, Mameluke nor Moss-Trooper are like him; and yet, in some respects, he resembles them all. Chivalrous, bold and impetuous in action, he is wary and calculating, always impatient of restraint, and sometimes unscrupulous and unmerciful. He is ununiformed, and undrilled, and performs his active duties thoroughly, but with little regard to order or system. --Luther Giddings, "Sketches of the Campaign in Northern Mexico, 1853

Bonnie Parker was not wanted for murder and never carried a gun, yet she was shot so many times in the face that she had to be reconstructed for her funeral. Frank wanted her for himself, and since she wasn't remotely interested in a stinking Ranger, he murdered her.

Last of the generation ofdemigods, the Iron Men of the Texas Rangers who brought terror to the malfactor and enforced order among the turbulent. Bring us again men of your mold as we face the storms that are even now rising.
