Aside from your great novels outside of crime fiction, you were the best police procedural crime fiction novelist bar none! I can't even hope to follow in your footsteps, but I am trying to create something that pays homage to you and what you wrote. Your characters had heart, depth. They were real people, no doubt about that. You were the best.Rest in peace always.With much respect.

It's hard to believe you are gone. I've enjoyed your many books over the years and waited impatiently for the next installment of the 87th precinct novels. I know you have left a void in my life. God bless you, Evan/Ed

Just me again. I am still in shock and very sad about your death. I never even knew that you had cancer; you never said a word, even before your died you didn't say anything. I always think that that is so brave and noble and very professional. I am letting you know that right now I am reading 'Fiddlers', and I noticed that the backpage where the writer's short bio always is, and it was your first post humous release. That made me sad. I have always collected your novels, but as a coincedence the library had TONS of your 87th novels on the sale shelf, a sign from God, so bought them all. My husband complains about the books, but he knew that when he married me! I will die a hapy death under a landslide of books! I hope that there are mor unpublished stuff that you wrote, that more will be released (only time will tell...V.C. Andrews ahs been gone for years but they still publish new stuff of hers all the time) but I STILL have tons of your novels that I haven't read yet so that will keep me busy. I think that it is so sweet how you always dedicated your books to your wife. I am SO sad that you are gone! But God has taken your pain away and made you whole again. Rest well. Love always,

Dear Evan/Ed;
I can not beleive that you are gone!!! I am in shock. I am one of your biggest fans. I have read novels that you have written under both of your names and loved them all. "Love, Dad" was my favorite novel you wrote under your real name. I loved all of the 87th novel, all of the Matthew Hope. As a librarian, I would want with baited breath to see if any thing of your would be among the shipment of new books we received at the circulation desk. I will miss you, but I still have plenty of your 87th stuff that I haven't read yet. I can't beleive that you are gone! I am sad about that. Anthor great novelist has been silenced. RIP>Love always,
