GEORGIA is rich with Sunflowers! GENERAL COBB, and "COBB'S LEGION" were honored by The STATE of GEORGIA's Most Famous Author: MARGARET MITCHELL....GONE WITH THE WIND" was as True a depiction of the "OLD SOUTH" as could ever have been written....Yes, "There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South"...And Yes, "In this pretty world Gallantry took its last bow"...And Yes, "Here was the last ever to be seen of KNIGHTS and their LADIES FAIR---OF Master and of Slave."..And NOW---we do "Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered....A Civilization gone with the wind...." (I am quoting from the Introduction to Margaret Mitchell's book and the 1939 Movie, which Premiered in Atlanta.) Margaret Mitchell immortalized a Time and Place in History, and General Cobb, and Cobb's Legion. She chose General Cobb and Cobb's Legion to live on, whenever one watches the Movie: "GONE WITH THE WIND"....There are MANY Life Lessons revealed in this movie. I am Thankful to Ted Turner, and Turner Classic Movies for playing this movie several times each year, for the benefit of all who will take the time to watch and learn the Life Lessons that we all need to absorb. These Lessons help to make each of us better Southerners...and better Americans. (Submitted by a Daughter of the South.)

Maybe this is Ty Cobbs' grandfather, but it certainly can't be Ty Cobb's father! Thomas Cobb had been dead for 24 years when Ty Cobb was born.
