W. C. Carrier Dies Tuesday Night, After Long Illness.
After a very painful illness of five months' duration, that venerable citizen, William Chauncey Carrier, passed away at his home on East Franklin street, at 7 o'clock Tuesday night. At the beginning of his illness he suffered a stroke of paralysis and has since been confined to his home. The real cause of death, however, was plural-pneumonia, with which he was taken Tuesday. Mr. Carrier was born in New York state November 27, 1840, and came, with his parents, to Otsego in 1844, where he has resided most of the
time since. He lived a short time in Kalamazoo and Holland. He entered the Ninth Michigan infantry as a recruit February 15, 1864, and was honorably discharged September 15, 1865. Soon after the war he was united in marriage to Miss Rose Campbell, who died in 1883. March 18, 1885, he was married to Miss Alta B. Beals, the faithful and loving wife who is left to mourn. He is also survived by one grand-daughter and two great grand-children, Mrs. Lorin Bright and children. For twenty-nine years Mr. Carrier
has been a member of the M, E. church and was always faithful in his attendance at all the services when health would permit. He was also an honored member of W. G. Eaton post. The funeral will be held at the home this afternoon at 3:30, conducted by Rev, F. M. Taylor, and Interment will he made in Mountain Home cemetery.
