Beloved Grandma Vawna Kay West, of Rexburg passed away Jan. 31, 2011 peacefully in her home at the age of 67 (though she never claimed a day past 29). She was born April 28, 1943 the daughter of Roy and Verl Hardwick. Vawna was the third child of five children. Vawna loved her childhood in Escalante and Midvale, Utah. She loved to share memories of playing, swimming and baking bread with her Grandma. In 1961 she met her eternal sweetheart Gary H. West at a dance. In Gary's words "I was at a singles dance when I turned around and came face to face with the most beautiful woman in the world". Gary and Vawna were married on December 30, 1961. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their early married years moving around to new and exciting places. Her favorite years were spent in Hawaii where they were able to take her three small children to swim in the ocean everyday. Their family continued to grow with three more children in South Dakota and Idaho. They eventually made their way to Rexburg where they fell in love with the town and spent the last 32 years of Vawna's life. Vawna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her ward and serving in the temple with her husband.

Vawna loved everyone, she taught those around her the true meaning of Humor, Strength and Charity. Vawna was young at heart; Dixie cups were Ballet slippers, Snow could be Ice Cream, Blankets were forts and Rainbows always held a treasure at the end. She filled our world with laughter. We will miss her.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, one month and one day Gary H. West, her children Tracie Herecules (Kent), Toni Casdorph (Myron), Jennifer Lamph (Garin), Ashley Siepert (Galand), Leslie Giles (Ryan), Greg West (Connie), her Sister Karol Harlon (Carl Lee), and her 18 Grandchildren.

She will be welcomed in Death by her Parents Roy and Verl Hardwick, Brothers Bobby Lynn and Danny Lynn, her Sister Terri, her husbands parents Shelby and Grace West, her sister in law Georgia West and her beautiful Granddaughters Natalie Herecules and Grace C. Lamph.
