Actor. He is best known for his portrayals of 'Charlie Chan's' number two son 'Jimmy Chan' and of the Chinese cook 'Hop Sing' on the classic 1960s and 1970s western television series "Bonanza." He made his film debut as 'Jimmy Chan' in 1938's "Charlie Chan in Honolulu." He went on to make more than 14 Charlie Chan movies mostly playing Jimmy Chan, but later playing Tommy Chan. He continued to be a very successful character actor in Hollywood after the Chan movies despite racial stereotyping.
