Dr. James "Jim" Wallace Henry passed on into glory to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, September 23, 2012.

A Chattanooga, TN native, he served the families of our fair city as teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of the Chattanooga City Schools.

He was a longtime member of Brainerd Baptist Church and Faith Bible Church, having recently joined Calvary Bible Church. He earned degrees from Georgia Tech, University of Chattanooga and his doctorate from the University of Tennessee.

He is survived by his two sons, Bill and Mark Henry, their wives, Jan and Shannon respectively, plus five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He now joins his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years in heaven along with his father and mother, John and Margaret Henry.

Special thanks go to Debbie Petty, their "angel," for the five years of loyal and loving care they both received and who will always be a member of the Henry family.

Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel with Dr. Bill Henry officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the East Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Bible Church of Chattanooga to ongoing work of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, East Chapel, 404 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
