Christopher and his wife Marit Pedersdatter were married on January 4, 1845 in Vestre Slidre, Norway. They emigrated from Vestre Slidre, Norway on March 27, 1850. Christopher is buried in the Norwegian Luthern Cemetery in Port Washington, Wisconsin. He was the father of Ingeborg, James (Mary, nee Lynch), Sarah (William Cales) Bodin, Peter C. (Mathilda, nee Anderson), Mary Germanson (Andrew) Newman, Julia (Daniel) Sholberg, Gilbert Otto (Amelia, nee Seivers), Julius Martin (Theresa, nee Weller) and Emma Germanson (Frank) Bodine.
Christopher was the son of Gjermund Gulbrandsen Hoyme and Ragnild Torchelsdatter Olson, and the brother of Gulbrand Gjermuundsen Hoyme (1824-1907),Ragnhild Gjermundsdatter Hoyme (1827-1909),Knute Germanson (1829-1915), Marit GjermundsdatterHoyme (1832), Gudmund Gjermundsen Hoyme(1834), Guri Gjermundsdatter Hoyme (1837-1912), Jorand Christopher Hoyme (1840-1908), Ola Gjermundsen Hoyme (1846-1946) and Gjermund Gjermundsen Hoyme (1847-1902).
