Beatrice was the daughter Marcus"Darrell" Carter and,Edith "Ruth" Lytle Carter.
Her mother died in a car accident when she was only five years old, she grew up without a woman figure in her life. I believe this is why she was the loving protective mother and grandmother that she was.
After her mothers death her grandmother Nellie Carter helped raise the three children for almost two years, until her death. Beatrice and her sister Barbara were then sent to live in the Salvation Army home for children (an orphanage)in Detroit where they lived until Bea was thirteen years old. Visits from her father were very rare. Her brother Tom was sent to live in Missouri with family.
She married Carl "BOB" Nagy on Oct. 24, 1954 in Wyandotte Michigan. She was the mother of three sons Carl Jr., Terry and Mark and two daughters Linda and Sandra.
She had a helping hand in raising everyone of her grandchildren.
She never had much in life but did have a lot of love. She was always willing to and usaully did give up what little she did have to someone else that she thought might need it worse than she did. Her thoughts was if she really needed it then she'd get it later if not then she really need it in the first place. She never complained about what she didn't have, because all she felt that she really needed was her family.
She was a loving, kind person and anyone that met and knew her thought very highly of her.
On Nov. 5, 1975 at the age of 38 while living in Glendale Arizona she had a radical mastectomy on her left side.
She moved to Augusta Kansas in 1976 where she worked as a CNA and a med aide and in the town laundry mat.
She moved back to Arizona for a few years and worked as an CNA while taking care of her father after he had suffered a stroke. She later returned to Kansas.
In Dec. 1992 she was to learn again that she had cancer, this time it was in her right lung. The doctors couldn't be sure but thought she probably had it for ten to fifteen years at that time and that it may have started as breast cancer, but the one thing that they were sure of was that they could not do any surgery to try to help her.
She was more concerned about her family and if they were going to be okay than she was about her own suffering.
In 1993 she moved to Rogers Arkansas to live. Some of her family lived there and the rest in Kansas.
Even after she was sick and she had the hospice nurse coming to the house she still wanted to clean her own home, she said she didn't want to take advantage of anyone.
She never complained about her illness to others but would talk about it if someone else brought it up. She just took it as a a fact of life.
She always had a smile and was laughing, but if some how you were unfortunate enough to make her mad you definetely would hear about it very clearly. She was a very out spoken woman that didn't hold back, she would tell you in a flat second what she thought of you or what you were doing.
After she learned that she had cancer she started making quilts to leave behind for her family, she was able to get nineteen beautiful quilts finished before her death.
She died in peace at home in Rogers Arkansas with Bob in the bed with her holding her in his arms, and several of her family members at her bedside.
Prayer services were at Rollings Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers then her body was brought back to Kansas, the place she considered home.
Funeral services were held at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel on March 4, 1995. Her daughter in law Terry along with her mother Janie Marie, a gospel singer provided the music.
At the time of her death she was the grandmother of twenty five and five great grandchildren.
