Union Civil War Soldier. He was the son of Cornelius Bowman Jr. and Elizabeth Moore Bowman. He resided in Booneville, Kentucky before the war began. During the Civil War he volunteered to serve in the Union Army and enlisted with the 14th Kentucky Cavalry. He was mustered into Company E as a Private. Bowman died while in the service from debilities at a military hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. His unit is listed incorrectly as the 11th Kentucky Cavalry on his grave marker.
