At an early age, Ethel Watkins became a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Jarratt, Virginia and remained faithful until her death in Petersburg, VA where she resided with her mother.
For many years she was employed as a physician's assistant in Emporia, VA and Binghamton, NY. Later she returned to Virginia to work as a Nurse's Aide at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Richmond, VA. After 20 years she retired and returned to Petersburg, Va to care for her aging mother, Ninnie Bet Jones Blakes Watkins who was then over 100 years old.
