SP4. Heavy Construction Equipment Operator. KIA, in Dak To, Kontum Province, when the bunker in which he was located took a direct hit from an enemy 122mm rocket. 15th Engineer Company (LE), 299th Engineer Battalion, 937th Engineer Group, 18th Engineer Brigade, USARV Engineer Command, U.S. Army.
SP4 Barber was featured in the June 27, 1969 LIFE magazine cover story entitled "The Faces of the American Dead in Vietnam: One Week's Toll."
