Ely Samuel Parker (born Hasanoanda, later known as Donehogawa), a Mason; Yonnondio Lodge, No. 163, F. & A. M. Rochester, Monroe County, New York. The name "Yonnondio," signifying "Great Mountain," had been selected for the new lodge upon the suggestion of Brother Eli Parker, of Valley Lodge, and afterwards of Genesee Falls Lodge. Brother Parker was a full blooded Indian and Chief of the Six Nations. He was afterwards Chief of the Staff on General U. S. Grant's Staff and drew up the articles of surrender at Appomattox. ...Parker began his career in public service by working as an interpreter and diplomat to the Seneca chiefs in their negotiations about land and treaty rights, in 1852 Parker was made sachem of the Seneca, and given the name Donehogawa, "Keeper of the Western Door of the Long House of the Iroquois
