Sarah, daughter of Samuel Coley, was born in 1648 in Milford, Connecticut. She was the second wife of Joseph Baldwin (about 1637 - 1681) of Milford, Connecticut and Hadley, Massachusetts. There is no marriage record with Joseph Baldwin, who was also known as Joseph Baldwin Jr., but she married Joseph sometime between the birth of his second daughter named Hannah (born March 1675/6) and death of his first wife Elizabeth and the birth of Joseph and Sarah's first child, Samuel (born 1679). Sarah is listed in the original birth records for her two children, Samuel (1679) and Hannah (1681).

There are many secondary sources for Sarah including:
1. The best source for Joseph Baldwin and his two wives is a recent article written by David Kendall Martin in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, January 2002, Volume 156, page 103, entitled "Joseph Baldwin, Jr. of Milford, Connecticut, and Hadley, Massachusetts." If you are not using this source, the information you are looking at regarding Joseph is out of date.
2. History of Hadley: Including the Early History of Hatfield, South Hadley, Amherst and Granby, Massachusetts..." published 1905
3. The Baldwin Genealogy (has several errors) - published 1881
4. Families of Early Milford, Connecticut (has several errors) - published 1979

In the above-mentioned secondary source, "History of Hadley..." on page 234 we find: "In 1687, widow Baldwin was poor and infirm, and the town voted, March 3rd, that she should be removed from house to house ... and remain a fortnight in each family..." The author of this source did not know if "widow Baldwin" was Joseph Baldwin Senior's widow or Joseph Baldwin Junior's widow. However, David Kendall Martin, author of the above-mentioned article published in 2002, indicated that this reference was to Joseph Jr.'s wife, Sarah Coley Baldwin. Between 1687 and 1689 she moved to Springfield where her sister lived and died there September 30, 1689. She has no known headstone.
