Bobo was a 6-year-old Yorkshire terrier who was burned over 50 percent of his body after his owner hog-tied him with speaker wire and placed him on a burning phone book that was placed on a stove in her kitchen on October 19, 2008.

Bobo was discovered by emergency workers when a next door neighbor at the apartment complex smelled smoke and heard a dog yelping. When police entered the apartment, they found him badly burned. Bobo was taken to the Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Lakewood and treated for his burns.

Bobo was in stable condition but doctors were concerned about possible internal injuries caused by the heat of the fire but they were able to control his pain. He was placed in a special chamber to help protect him from infection. People started calling about Bobo's condition and wanted to adopt him and even made donations for his care. But sadly Bobo died from his injuries on October 23, 2008 at the Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Bobo died from organ failure.

His owner, Tanya Martin, was charged with felony arson and cruelty to animals. When she was arrested she refused to answer any question about the dog. She was schizophrenic and had been off her medication for several months. The family said that her and the dog were fast friends and they went everywhere together. She even bought doggie clothes for him when she would take him for a walk. She had gotten Bobo about a year before from the Denver Dumb Friends League. Bobo was deaf but she fell in love with him so she took him home anyway. They played like any normal owner and pet would. Her family believes that something inside of her must have snapped and made want to her hurt Bobo.

On April 24, 2009, Tanya Martin pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. On June 4, 2009 she was sentenced to 45 days in jail and 10 years probation meaning she cannot own any animals for that long.
