Alberta Kathryn (Meyer) Popejoy, 88 of Vandalia, passed away at 10:00pm February 28, 2010 at the home of her daughter Sheryl Garrett of Vandalia.
There will be no funeral services as she wished to be cremated. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey at a later date for friends and family.

Mrs. Popejoy was born October 23, 1921 in Strawn a daughter of Henry and Marie Volsen Meyer. Alberta graduated the class of 1939 Sibley High School. She was married to Herbert Popejoy on January 6, 1942 in Sibley. She was a beloved and devoted mother and wife.
She is survived by one son, Roger Herbert Popejoy of Colorado; two daughters Sheryl Rae Garrett of Vandalia and Bonita Jean Alkire of Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great -great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister and one granddaughter Emily (Cope) Stilt.
Mrs. Popejoy was of Christian faith, a Cropsey girl scout leader, a homemaker and a semesters, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3862 of Vandalia. She was a great lady with a smile.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore, as time goes by we miss you more, your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your vacant place.
