He died while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq. He was a 1997 graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High. Among his military awards and decorations were the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal; and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. The Marine Corps Engineer Association named him its Explosive Ordnance Technician of the year in 2006.

He was survived by his mother; his father; his wife; his three week old son; and his sister.

Interment on May 10, 2007.
