Lorraine Dean, 78, Burlington, died Wedensday, March 5, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Dean and her husband owned and operated a business in Carl Junction, Mo., for several years.

She was born April 12, 1918, in Oronogo, Mo., the daughter of George and Hazel Surface McPhail. She moved to Burlington From Carl Junction, Mo. in 1989.

She married Frank Dean on Feb. 19, 1938, in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Jerry F. Dean, Carl Junction, Mo.; a daughter, Janice LeMaster, New Strawn; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Dean was cremated. No services are planned. Feltner Funeral home in Lyndon is in charge of arrangements.

Mom and Dad owned and operated the Carl Junction Feed and Fuel Store, Carl Junction Pick Up Service, Carl Junction Cafe and operated a backhoe business...They also owned an ice house when first moving to Carl Junction. Mother worked in cafeterias in Joplin prior to her retirement.
