In Branford, July 21,2008, Odile Patricia Bussell Newton LaBlanc, 91 of Rose St., Branford. Wife of the late Russell E. Newton and Roland H. LaBlanc. Mother of Carol (Bill) Wallach of East Haven and Suzanne R. Newton of Boston, Ma. Stepmother of Susan (John) Ferreira of Westerly, RI, Betsy (Alan) Risch of Wilmington, NC, and James LaBlanc of Mystic. Grandmother of Michael Wallach of Wallingford, James Wallach of Southington and Andrew Wallach of Clinton. Step grandmother of Lauren and Kristen Ferreira of Westerly, RI, Cynthia Rish of New Fairfield and Michael Risch of Houston,TX. Also survived by three great grandsons and five step great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Thomas Bussell and William Walter Bussell.

Born June 13, 1917, in East Haven a daughter of the late Walter and Helen Thomas Bussell, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven and then lived for many years in New London and Waterford and worked for the Civil Service in Accounting Dept. at the US Naval Submarine base in Groton and at the Naval Underwater System Center in New London, retiring in 1978. Upon her retirement she worked as a volunteer for Hospice of S.E. Ct and after moving to Branford in 2000, she worked as a volunteer at CT Hospice of Branford. She was a charter member of the Clamshell Quilters Guild in Waterford as an accomplished quilter, she created and donated hundreds of quilts to the Childrens's Unit at the Hospital of St.Raphael.
