Dorothy Maxine Vaughan, 85, of Petersburg died Monday, May 25, 2009. Ms. Vaughan, a native of Ettrick was a daughter of the late Robert Emmett Vaughan and Lelia Bowman Vaughan.

Dorothy was a graduate of Petersburg High School and attended the College of William & Mary.

She retired from the Quartermaster Center and School at Fort Lee in 1974 as Chief of Academic Records and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, VA.

Dorothy is survived by her twin brother, Emmett Carlton 'Bubby" Vaughan and his wife Constance W. Vaughan of Henrico; devoted cousin, Mildred Bowman Sadler of Colonial Heights, VA.; and eight nieces and nephews, Carolyn Stine Gotshall, Hettie Stine Mason, Jerry Vaiden, Anne Vaiden Bristol, Vaughan Culbreath, Van Culbreath, Becky Vaughan Grammer and Cynthia Vaughan Lantz.

A memorial service was held at 11am on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Second Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, with Dr. Daniel E. Hale officiating. Inurnment at 10am Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Blandford Cemetery.

Known by all who knew her as "Teedy", she was predeceased by four half-siblings who were children of Robert Emmett and Hettie Belle RIVES Vaughan; Virginia Vandelia, Robert Rives, Hettie Catherine and Mary Elizabeth "Doodley" Vaughan. She never married so no children.
