Noma was a very bright girl, and a tall, strikingly beautiful woman. She graduated from college with a teaching degree. And taught elementary school for seven years.
On 24 June, 1951, she married William F. Brown, with the students of her first grade class in attendance.
William got his M.A. & Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, becoming Professor Emeritus at Ball State University.
Noma and Bill never had any children, but were thoughtful mentors for her cousin Lynn's children.
Noma was a gracious, gentle woman, with the voice of a young girl...even at age 85. She was very active in her community, doing church work, gardening, and lending a hand whenever need arose. She had an abiding faith that carried her through 6 years of widowhood.
Noma was a reminder of a more polite, refined world. Noma had great strength of character. She is greatly loved and cherished.
