Kathy Jean Bowers, 48, of Union City died 6:20 a.m. June 24, 2007, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dilday Funeral Home in Union City, with the Rev. Steve Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Joey Kennedy, Josh Gatlin, Nick Gatlin, Adam Gatlin, Zach Dunn and Kody Dunn. The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Cancer Agency through Hometown Walk of Hope, P.O. Box 482, Union City, TN 38281. She was born May 19, 1959, in Obion County, daughter of Carolyn (Nichols) Gatlin of Union City and the late Harold Edward Gatlin. She married James Bowers Nov. 14, 1981. He survives. She had been employed as a customer service manager for Williams Sausage in Woodland Mills for 13 years and was a member of New Life Worship Center in Union City. Survivors also include her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jacob Hamrick of Murray, Ky.; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Catherine Gatlin of Troy; her sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Richard Dunn of Rives; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
