At the age of 33 Mary married Robert Coles in RI. Mary was Robert's second wife. Robert sailed to America with the Winthrop Fleet. Robert and Mary had eight childern. Much has been written about Mary's husband in our history books. He led a colorful life. Often he was in conflict with the newly formed government and yet at times he was one of the leaders. Mary was always at his side and she too was considered "difficult" by the establishment at certain times during their marriage. After Robert's death Mary married Matthias Harvey and moved to Long Island.∼Robert Coles married (2) by about 1637 Mary Hawkshurst;
They had four children:
DANIEL, b. say 1637; m. by about 1662 Mahershallalhashbaz Gorton, daughter of Samuel Gorton.
NATHANIEL, b. say 1642; m. (1) Warwick 30 August 1667 Martha Jackson.
ROBERT, b. say 1644; said to have m. 1 January 1670 Mercy Wright.
SARAH, b. say 1646; said to have m. Thomas Townsend.
She married (2) after 5 April 1656 and probably before 5 February 1656/7 Matthias Harvye of Warwick and Oyster Bay.
