Ronald Berry Boylan was born August 14, 1941 in Bakersfield, California to Walter and June Boylan. He went to be with the Lord, November 19, 2004 at the age of 63.
Interment was at the private family estates at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Ronnie attended local schools, graduating from Garces High School in 1959. He worked at his grandparent's (Larry and Esther Focht) popular restaurant 'Hi Larry's while attending high school and college. Ronnie, attended Bakersfield College and also worked part time in the steel industry, thus establishing his career in the steel industry. He began B & B Surplus, Inc. in 1962 and grew the business to have branches in the Rosedale area of Bakersfield, Santa Maria, Santa Ana, Fresno, and the Ventura-Oxnard area. His greatest ability was to envision ventures of various degrees, creating a concept, getting the best managers to carry on that concept and then moving on to the next venture. During his lifetime he began B & BSurplus, TRB Investments, M & R Investments, Western Scrap, Valley Crushing, Vintage Limousine, and the property of What A Racket, Eslan Steel (L.A) and Valley Iron of Fresno. He was a founding father and Board of Director of Mission Bank.
Ronnie was a member of the Bakersfield Elks B.O.P.E. Lodge #266 and Stockdale Country Club. Ronnie loved to travel and was fortunate to experience many trips around the world. Ronnies many hobbies included hunting of wild game with hunts from Alaska to Africa, where he was always the green horn. He loved his Wednesday afternoon card game of Hearts or the game of Hate. His greatest thrill of gaming was going east to Las Vegas, where he will always be known as Mr. B. But his true love and passion was the game of racquetball. It was his daily source of dorfins. Ronnie was the founding father of the current What-A-Racket successfully buying the building along with nine other racquetballers to insure they always had a place to play. He had a great love of the stock market and commodity trading. He loved to buy his gold coins each and every Friday.
Ronnie tried always to seem like a Lion but was in reality a Lamb. The amount of people that he helped or touched during his lifetime cannot be counted. He was always there for those around him. He loved to cruise Bakersfield and
admire the growth of the community. He had a great work ethic which he loved to instill in others. The countless people that he prompted and helped with job opportunities and careers will only be remembered by those that worked the
yard in the heat of the summer or got that loan or extra help in business.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Donice, son Bret Boylan, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Dominick Pisano and Papas extra special Hayden and Riley Pisano. He is also survived by
brother and sister-in-law Terry and Christy Boylan, sister, Teena Boylan, niece Jayme Boylan and many other special family and friends.
