Mrs. Akin was born Sept. 1, 1915 in Stilwell and died Monday, June 26, at City Hospital in Fayetteville, AR.
She graduated from Westville High School and a business college in Tulsa.
She was married to Neil Akin on July 4, 1937 in Westville. They started the Akin Grocery Store in 1939. Neil died in 1964 from a car accident and Ruthe operated the Akin Grocery Store until 1969.
Mrs. Akin was employed by the State Health Department of Stilwell in 1971, moving then to Oklahoma City until her retirement in 1980.
She lived in Claremore until moving to Fayetteville, AR due to her health in 1986.
Survivors include: two sons, Bill Singleton, Independence, KS and Andy John Akin, Proctor; one daughter, Neila Lee Akin Page, Fayetteville, AR; two brothers, Guy Hagan of Claremore and Georg Houston Hagan, Paradise Valley, AZ.
