Born April 8, 1914 in the Elm Mott area, to Jesse D. and Lilly Jane (Henderson) Denney. Mr. Denney was born into a family that eventually had 13 children, 12 of which survived into adulthood. He spent most of his young life growing up in the east Texas area, around Athens, Poyner and LaRue. He was a sergeant and medic in the army-air corps during WWII, having spent 42 months in the service, spending 18 months in North Africa and Italy, serving in 7 major battles. He was honorably discharged Oct. 22, 1945; soon after, he went to work at the Waco VA hospital where he worked for 27 yrs. He married Edna McCaslin October 10, 1942. They had a daughter, Diane in 1956 and a son, Gaylon in 1959. Much loved husband, father and uncle. He was a huge baseball fan and particularly loved the Houston Astros! He also loved fishing and teaching the kids how to fish. He has 2 granddaughters and now has 2 great-grandkids. He is much loved and missed. He passed away from an acute heart attack on Sept.15, 1977, at age 63.
